Young People’s Concerts
Young People’s Concerts are fun, educational, and interactive presentations of baroque music suitable for the whole family. Young People’s Concerts are typically an hour long and feature selections of music from a concert in the current season program. Members of the orchestra share interesting information in a fun way and display their talents or the audience. After the playing is complete, everyone has a chance to come forward, ask questions and explore the instruments. We’re often not sure who is having more fun, the kids or their parents!
Young People’s Concerts are open to the public, school groups, youth groups—anyone who wants to learn more about music. They are also a great way to introduce young children to the music you love.
Upcoming Young People’s Concerts:
Stay tuned for more information on upcoming Young People’s Concerts in our 2014-15 season: Handel’s Messiah in December.
Recent performance: Virtuoso Bass
This performance featured selections from Virtuoso Bass, featuring double bass virtuoso Chi-Chi Nwanoku. Born of Nigerian-Irish decent, Chi-Chi has a fascinating story to share as well as acclaimed talents. Below is a short clip from a documentary made about Chi-Chi. We are thrilled that in partnership with King School in NE Portland, Chi-Chi was be able to share her music and insight with K-8 students at King School. Chi-chi and PBO chamber soloists also visited Boise Eliot School of N Portland. Catch a glimpse here.
