Monica Huggett’s Benvenue Trio

Past Performance

Pianist Eric Zivian joins PBO’s Monica Huggett and Tanya Tomkins for their longtime passion project: the Benvenue Trio. This program of works highlights the classical piano trio through works by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, and features the debut performance of PBO’s beautiful fortepiano.

“If I had my way, they wouldn’t have extended the development of the piano past 1850,” said Monica Huggett in a 2016 interview with Vancouver Classical Music. “A fortepiano or a period piano (such as an Érard or Broadwood) balances so well and allows all the primary colors of the music to surface.”
