We welcome you to our 35th-anniversary season with PBO’s star team of violinists and Czech soprano Hana Blažíková, praised by Opera News for her “clean lines, immaculate tuning, and attention to rhythmic detail.” Showcasing Vivaldi’s contribution to developing the violin as a solo instrument alongside his exploration of the human voice as instrument, this program is a tribute to one of Monica Huggett’s mentors, Christopher Hogwood, a leading figure in early music revival who was known for his pioneering and carefully curated programs.

Antonio Vivaldi

  • L’Estro armonico Opus 3: Concerti for one, two, and four violins
  • In furore iustissimae irae, RV626 for soprano and orchestra
