Andrew Harmon is a double bass performer and teacher in the Portland area where he plays with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Yakima Symphony, Symphony Tacoma, Oregon Bach Festival and Amadeus Chamber Orchestra among other ensembles. Before moving to Portland, Andrew was a founder of the Chicago Bach Ensemble, was principal bass of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. A St. Louis native, Andrew studied with members of the St. Louis Symphony, Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera of Chicago. He earned a BA in English and music from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and MA in the humanities from the University of Chicago. In his free time, Andrew enjoys hiking with his wife cellist Karen Schulz-Harmon and young daughter Estère.
