IRA Charitable Distribution

Make a gift directly from your IRA through your plan administrator and you can support the causes you love while reducing your tax burden. It’s a win-win.

If you are age 70½ or older and required to take a minimum distribution from your IRA, you can contribute up to $100,000 directly from your taxable IRA to charity and exclude the donated amount from your taxable income.

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds, or DAFs, are a tax-advantageous way to support PBO and other 501(c)(3) organizations. DAF’s allow flexibility to donate things other than cash including publicly traded and restricted stocks, bonds, private company stocks, private equity, and even cryptocurrencies.

Oregon Cultural Trust Tax Credit

Oregon residents can claim an Oregon state tax credit by making a matching gift to the Oregon Cultural Trust! You can donate all you like to the arts non-profit, however, the tax credit is limited to $500 for an individual, $1,000 for a couple filing jointly, and $2,500 for C-class corporations.

In-Kind Donations

Thank you for thinking of PBO!

As a non-profit organization we have needs big and small. However, because of space limitations and the high cost of storage, we can’t always say yes to an in-kind donation of goods. Please contact PBO to ask about whether your gift is needed at this time. Because we do not have a musician training program we are not generally in need of instruments.

General In-Kind Facts:

• The donor determines the value of the item that is donated. You’re acknowledgement letter will not include a value.
• Property with an estimated value over $5,000 need to be professionally appraised.
• Vehicle Donations are made through Volunteers of America and their Charity Connections program.

What You Cannot Deduct (per the IRS):

• The value of your time or professional service
• The use of a second home or rental property
• Appraisal Fees
