Praised for her “pure timbre” (Opera News), lightness, and agility, Portland composer and soprano Carolyn Quick (she/her) dives headfirst into each performance, bringing attentiveness, creativity, and passion to solo and choral works alike. Adept at both early and modern music, Carolyn tackles works spanning Thomas Tomkins to Caroline Shaw with eagerness and vocal adaptability. With a particular interest in contemporary performance and extended techniques, Carolyn has premiered dozens of new works by living composers including Andrea Reinkemeyer, Damien Geter, and many of her own.

Notable solo performances include title roles with Eugene Opera, New Wave Opera, and Queer Opera as well as guest soloist for concert works with Portland Symphonic Choir, University of British Columbia, and Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia. She was also a finalist in the NATS National Competition and was featured as both a composer and a singer in the Oregon Bach Festival’s Vocal Fellows Program.

Carolyn sings with In Medio Chamber Choir, Cappella Romana, Evenstar Ensemble, Portland Phoenix Chamber Choir, and Rose City Renaissance. She holds a Master of Music from the University of British Columbia.
