Violist Victoria Gunn received her Master’s degree from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Karen Tuttle, after graduating from Harvard with a Bachelor’s degree in Germanic and Scandinavian languages and literature. Upon graduating from Juilliard, she spent a few years in New York, playing in the Orchestra of St Luke’s, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and other freelance groups. In 1991 Ms. Gunn moved to Germany, where she played in Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss before becoming Principal Violist in Reinhard Goebel’s Musica Antiqua Köln where she played for five years. She then returned to the US and played with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, and a number of Bay Area early music ensembles.

Ms Gunn recently retired from the Principal Viola position in Portland Baroque, after filling that role for 27 years. In her spare time, she may be found rooting around in her organic garden and writing about it, tending chickens, saving seeds, spinning, knitting, or playing nyckelharpa. She recently joined the board of Edible Landscapes Yamhill County, which keeps her busy.
