Sherezade Panthaki

Sherezade Panthaki, soprano, enjoys ongoing international collaborations with conductors Nicholas McGegan, Masaaki Suzuki, Stephen Stubbs, Nicholas Kraemer, James O’Donnell and more. Combining “her full, luxuriously toned upper range” (The Los Angeles Times) and “astonishing coloratura with radiant top notes” (Calgary Herald) with her signature stylish creativity and historically informed performance practice, she is renowned for her interpretations of Bach, Handel, dozens of early music oratorios, operas, and cantatas, as well as numerous modern world premieres. Recent engagements include performances with the New York Philharmonic, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Bach Collegium Japan, Wiener Akademie (Austria), NDR Hannover Radiophilharmonie (Germany), the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Boston Early Music Festival, and the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Canada).

No stranger to classical and modern concert repertoire, she is in high demand for her interpretations of Mozart, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Poulenc, as well as new music World Premieres by Reena Esmail, Trevor Weston, and more. Her discography includes Handel oratorios with Nicholas McGegan and Philharmonia Baroque; Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Mass in B Minor and solo cantatas with Cantata Collective; works by Bach and Trevor Weston with the Washington Bach Consort; and Baroque operas with the Boston Early Music Festival. Born and raised in India, Ms. Panthaki holds graduate degrees from the Yale School of Music and the University of Illinois. She is a founding member of the Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble, presenting vocal excellence alongside arts education and social justice. Ms. Panthaki is a renowned clinician, has taught voice at Yale University, and currently directs the Vocal program at Mount Holyoke College.
